The Hungry Guppies are Happy to find Da Lu Prawn Noodles again!
The hungry guppies were thrilled when they managed to find Da Lu Prawn Noodles after quite a while! Previously, this stall was at Far East Square but later it moved out. The guppies did not know where it moved to and was disappointed for quite a while over the loss of their beloved prawn noodles. But fortunately their disappointment did not last long; they managed to find it at China Square Central!

The guppies tried both the soup and dry prawn noodles for lunch.

For me, I do prefer soupy stuff so I like the soup prawn noodles better! I decided to add pork ribs to my noodles but unfortunately, the pork ribs was a disappointment. It was not very tasty and it did not add much “value” to the noodles! Overall, I must say that meat was too tough. However, the soup was excellent and it brought out the taste of prawns very well. Add some chilli powder to the noodles and it totally completes a wonderful prawn noodle lunch!Enough to make me laugh happily!

What other guppies say:
Papa Guppy says: “I love soups. All kinds of soups. So for prawn noodles soup, I only go for the soup and can forgive overcooked noodles, limpy prawns so long as there is ‘power’ in the soup. This one has a bit of power in the soup. I like it and will come back again. I wonder if they will throw me out if I go to the counter and say ‘Err … one Prawn noodles soup, don’t want noodles, don’t want prawns, just give me more kangkong and soup”. Hmmm… I really must pick up the courage to try order this one day.”

Chilli-Padi Guppy says: “I don’t normally enjoy yellow noodles, so I take me Prawn Noodles with beehoon instead of the thick yellow noodles. Soup is good, got enough body like a good Bordeaux red.”

Sweet-toothed Guppy says: “I ate the dry version of the prawn mee. first thing I noticed about the prawn mee is the fragrance of it. Smelled really delicious.. YUMMY. The soup base is sweet with the taste of prawns, I like. I was a little unhappy with the prawns being sliced half though. It
would be much better to get 8 whole prawns instead of 8 slicked prawns. One complaint is that my noodles were quite soggy and overcooked. Important thing is, I didn’t feel too thirsty after my meal which means if there’s any MSG, it’s quite minimal. Don’t mind coming back for more actually. Just the fragrance of it is enough to draw me to that shop!”

Grumpy Guppy says: “Da Lu Xia Mian (”Xia Mian” is Chinese for “Prawn Noodles”) is a social eating place for me. I have never had any cravings for prawn noodle, but I think Da Lu Xia Mian is alright. Food is acceptable and company is usually great (so far, I had only patronised Da Lu Xia Mian with colleagues). What more can one ask for for a quick lunch at the Raffles Place area?”

Sommelier Guppy says: “I’m not a xia mian person (”Xia Mian” is Chinese for “Prawn Noodles”) but it is one of the few stalls i wouldn’t mind eating from. And yeah, i like dry mee hoon xia mien with lots of crispy fried shallots as topping and nice peeled prawns. The soup was good too”
